For the last couple of years, I’ve worked with charity Haringey Welcome to highlight the impact of the Hostile Environment policy on migrants and the wider community in North London.
I’ve helped with fundraising, creating this social clip that helped raise £15k in a weekend to support those facing imminent homelessness after being granted the right to stay.
I also produced and edited their podcast No Small Victories for two seasons. One of the best episodes is Let Them Stay. I worked with the team to gather voice notes from migrants and staff working at a migrant hotel in Muswell Hill. These notes are edited together with recordings from Haringey Welcome and those offering the migrants legal support. It’s a true snapshot of what life is really like in these hotels. It’s not pretty or glamorous. It’s a life of staff and migrants looking for answers to explain the inhuman logic of their situation. Listen to the series on Apple and Spotify.
